Required:
i) Explain the concept of SWOT analysis to the recently recruited manager trainees. (2 marks)
ii) Explain the elements in the SWOT analysis to the manager trainees. (8 marks)

i) SWOT Analysis Concept:
SWOT analysis is a simple but very useful technique for analyzing the strategic position of an organization. It is an acronym for Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats, and serves as an analytical tool for identifying critical factors that might affect business strategy. (2 marks)
ii) Elements in SWOT Analysis:
- Strengths:
Strengths are the internal resource capabilities that an organization possesses, which can be leveraged to gain a competitive advantage. These may include strong brand reputation, skilled workforce, advanced technology, or superior financial resources. - Weaknesses:
Weaknesses are internal factors that can hinder the organization’s performance or put it at a competitive disadvantage. These may include outdated technology, poor management, inadequate capital, or a weak brand image. - Opportunities:
Opportunities are external factors in the business environment that the organization can exploit to its advantage. These may include emerging markets, technological advancements, favorable government policies, or shifts in consumer preferences. - Threats:
Threats are external factors that could pose challenges to the organization’s success. These may include economic downturns, increased competition, regulatory changes, or negative publicity. The organization must address these threats to protect its market position and achieve its strategic objectives.
